Chopin was our second rescue, our shelter was not yet born, but my husband (Shoshin) already had the fiber.
A woman had to give up her cat, a beautiful big cat, the story was sad, she had a brain cancer that was progressing.
My husband surprised me, we had not been in Quebec City for very long, he had made an appointment with the lady and invited me to come and see the cat of the sick lady.
We talked about everything and anything with the lady while we looked to see if the cat seemed confident towards us and it was. The lady gave it to us with a heavy heart and said that soon she probably wouldn't remember it, it was a sad story.
I saw the lady again a few months later. I was working as a cashier at the time, she was accompanied by a caregiver and she didn't remember much about her cat, she died a few months later.
Chopin was always very adorable, he was a cat that she had found in an alley near her home abandoned, unfortunately physically this had consequences and we had to take him in hand several times physically but he gave us over 15 years of happiness. Neither I nor my husband have ever regretted this rescue, in the end he was a shadow of his former self, cancer and kidney disease, we had to resort to euthanasia because of the suffering.
Not a day goes by that I don't think of him with a heavy heart but without regret.
